A BOLD, MODERN BATHROOM INDULGES THE WANTS AND NEEDS OF A FASHIONABLE, WORK-AT-HOME COUPLE IN SLEEPY HOLLOW, NY |
AS PART of a substantial renovation of this 1960s Colonial in Sleepy Hollow, NY, Radoslav Opacic of Opacic Architects transformed an outdated master bath into a cutting-edge space perfect for its fashion/business industry owners. The couple works from home and therefore wanted every space of their house, including the bathroom, to shine.
With sky-high sloped ceilings reaching over 10 feet, the bath includes eight steel clerestory windows that welcome soft light into the space. A unique sliver window is situated in the center of the curved Venetian-plaster feature wall and offers a peek at the front yard. Radiant-heated stone tiles run seamlessly into the shower area, which is separated by a floating glass partition. Other innovative elements include floating teak cabinetry, which support the striking his-and-her cast-stone NuCrete sinks. Meanwhile, the matching circular tub sits adjacent, creating a modern-yet-comfortable fashion statement.
