ROOMS THAT PUSH THE BOUNDS OF GREAT DESIGN AT THIS YEAR'S
DESIGNER SHOWHOUSE OF WESTCHESTER
THIS OCTOBER, A 20-ROOM GEORGIAN MANSION IN PURCHASE, NY, was converted into the Designer Showhouse of Westchester, with proceeds from ticket sales benefitting Cerebral Palsy of Westchester. The house, donated and built by Robert Georgio of Georgio Custom builders, was the classical footprint for design director Tony Manning to assign spaces to regionally based designers of all styles. "The showhouse was a knockout," says designer Jamie Drake, honorary showhouse chair. "With soaring spaces leading to more intimate ones, the breadth of design possibilities was endless. I was thrilled to see these fantastic rooms come to life."
It's rare that the editors at Cottages & Gardens live by the mantra, "A picture is worth a thousand words." Here, though, we're letting the photographs speak for themselves as we wander through the showhouse while simply contemplating the following: "What's great about this room?" Our thoughts—as well as comments from participating designers—fill the next few pages.
