BEFORE DESIGNING ANY ROOM, it is important to consider its purpose. Here are some of Corzine's decorating tips:
Traditionally, the most generously scaled room in a home, the living room should be comfortable yet gracious, and also reflect the personality of the residents. A principle room in most residences, the living room should be an attractive and inviting environment in which to be.

Regardless of the dimensions of the space, try to create at least one conversation area. One of the reasons sectional sofas are such a successful part of a living room is that they create instant and natural conversation areas.

Upholstery and wall colors are most attractive when they "glow" by day and have a soft, romantic appearance by night. My preference is for golden tones, neutrals, and whites, and for a lighter palette altogether. When selecting fabrics, always be mindful of their ultimate use. A beautiful silk taffeta may make lovely window treatments, but it is not suitable for heavily used sofas or sectionals – chenille or velvet is ideal.
