MEET THE DESIGNER

Linda Ruderman-Rosier
By Alexa Stevenson

AN INTERIOR DESIGNER WHOSE TIMELESS INTERIORS ARE MARKED BY EXQUISITE ATTENTION TO DETAIL

What's your design philosophy? Creating classic and timeless interiors for modern day living, emphasizing attention to detail, excellent client relationships and first-rate service. What's exciting to you right now in the world of interior design? Green design and living. Design teams everywhere have the opportunity and responsibility to promote eco-friendly products and lifestyles. I look forward to the challenge. How would you describe your personal style? Classical backgrounds are definitely my style. Whether I add traditional or contemporary elements to them greatly depends on the clients' tastes. How has it evolved over the years? I think that style develops with the types of projects that you take on and the lifestyles and environments you are being asked to create. I find myself designing and customizing furniture, carpets, fabrics and wallpapers for my projects much more than ever before. Clients love when they have something unique that has been created just for them. What are your favorite materials? Natural fabrics, reclaimed wood flooring, Donald Kaufman paint colors and hand-knotted custom carpets to name a few. Who is your style icon? Elsie de Wolfe. She revolutionized interior design in the beginning of the 20th century by cleaning out the clutter of the Victorian period. Her philosophy was that every interior must reflect the individual's tastes and needs, not just what the designer preconceives for the space.
