REAL ESTATE

Deeds & Don'ts

Now Playing In Darien
Popular opinion holds that Darien is a moneyed, conservative place, but we find the town stylish and fun with young families mingling amongst the old-guard, gin-and-tonic set. Better still, tabloids tell us that actor Topher Grace grew up in Darien, and when his parents stepped out for the evening they hired a babysitter, Chloe Sevigny, who now stars in HBO's polygamist drama Big Love. A fertile ground for the entertainment industry, Darien was also home to singer Moby and actress Kate Bosworth, who will be seen onscreen this summer playing Lois Lane opposite our favorite guy in blue tights, Superman.

Attracting somewhat less interest from the tabloids, Darien was also once home to the Convent of the Sacred Heart, located at the very tip of Long Neck Point. Revealing a real-estate savvy that can only be described as divine, the sisters sited the school with sunrise and sunset views of the Sound, surrounded on three sides by water.

Just 10 minutes from a Metro-North train station and bustling Post Road, Long Neck Point feels like Bermuda: Sailboats drift across the big, blue expanse as far as you can see, gulls wheel overhead, a salty breeze tussels your hair. And these days, you don't have to surrender your secular lifestyle (or wear a wimple) to get in—the convent property has been converted into eight private homes, two of which are on the market.

Ask affable Wheeler Real Estate agent Wally Schwind to show you around 245 Long Neck Point.
