PUBLICATION SPECIFICATIONS
Printed: Web offset, perfect bound, 150 Linescreen, Full page trim size: 10"w x 12"h, Two page spread trim size: 20"w x 12"w. For bleed ads, please add an additional 1/8" on all sides. NOTE: Live matter (text and images) must be 3/8" from the trim. Gutter safety is 5/16". For spreads, please allow 5/16" for text on BOTH sides of gutter.

Spread:
Non-Bleed: 19.5"w x 11.5"h
Bleed: 20.25"w x 12.25"h

Full Page:
Non-Bleed: 9.5"w x 11.5"h
Bleed: 10.25"w x 12.25"h

Half Page Horizontal:
Non-Bleed: 9.5"w x 5.5"h

Half Page Vertical:
Non-Bleed: 4.5"w x 11.5"h

One-Third Page Vertical:
Non-Bleed: 3.25"w x 11.5"h

One-Third Square:
Non-Bleed: 6.125"w x 5.625"h

Quarter Page:

FILE DELIVERY
WE DO NOT ACCEPT FRACTIONAL ADS WITH BLEED. Files must be submitted on CD, DVD or via FTP. If you would like to submit via FTP please contact your Production Representative for instructions. If we receive materials that do not meet our ad specs and corrections are necessary (thus requiring revisions), a production charge will be incurred by the advertiser.

PROOFS
Ads received must be accompanied by a proper color proof. Proofs must be created to SWOP 3 standards on matte publication base stock. PRINTOUTS FROM DESKTOP INKJET OR LASER PRINTERS CANNOT BE USED FOR COLOR MATCHING. WE CAN ONLY GUARANTEE COLOR IF YOU SEND AN APPROVED MATCHPRINT USING A SWOP 3 PROFILE. Proofs must be screened at 150 line screen. The reproduction of ads with proofs not adhering to these criteria cannot be guaranteed.
If you are unable to provide a SWOP 3 proof, ask your Production Representative for the names of service bureaus that can produce one for you. If you plan to provide a SWOP 3 proof we can supply the color profile to your printer/service bureau. Please contact your Production Representative for more information.

Specifications for Submitting Electronic/Digital Files
ADOBE PDF/X-1a FILES PREFERRED. PDF files Must be press ready (CMYK, at least 300 dpi at the size they are intended to print). All fonts Must be embedded. Native art files Must be at least 300dpi at their desired dimensions and image color mode Must be CMYK. Quark users – OPI MUST BE TURNED OFF IN USAGE MENU AND OMMITTED FROM PDF SETTINGS. Please include bleed settings (full page ads & spreads only) in PDF. If you need instructions on how to make a hi-res pdf, contact our main office at 203.227.1400.

Back Up Files for PdF files: PDF files Must be accompanied by their corresponding native file as a backup. Native document, images, and fonts Must be collected/preflighted, all links/usage Must be updated. Mac fonts only. PC NATIVE FONTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Fonts Must be Postscript, OpenType or TrueType in nature. We only accept QuarkXPress files v6 and below.

Non-preferred Digital File Formats
C&G Publications does not prefer, but will accept the following file formats.
.AI and .EPS files with fonts converted to outlines and images embedded (images Must be CMYK, 300dpi). .TIF files Must be CMYK, 300dpi, fonts rasterized, files flattened.
Inserts: Cottages & Gardens Publications, LLC requires that supplied insert samples and/or mock-ups (full-size and true-to-weight ) must be provided 30 days prior to material deadline.
